Make-Up Routine

1. BASE

I start my make-up routine by applying a primer all over the face.

I don’t wear foundation on an everyday basis (and never during summer season), but when I do wear it, I usually apply it moderately around nose, eyes & chin and blend it out evenly. I find that it looks more natural leaving certain parts of my face without coverage. Blending it out with a beauty blender. Otherwise, I wear a bit of concealer as my base. I try to be careful around my eyes so that the concealer doesn’t end up in the under-eye creases.

To create a bit of definition around my cheekbones, I use a tiny bit of contouring. Blending this in with a brush in a circular motion.

2. BLUSH & BRONZER

I warm up the skin with some bronzer just above the cheekbone contouring, across my nose as well as sweeping it across my eyelids, and wherever else is fitting for the season.

Blush is one of my favourite items and I don’t feel awake until I apply it. I change colours every now and then, depending on the look I would like to achieve, but for everyday use, I use a pink shade. I apply it slightly above the apples of my cheeks, across the nose and some on my eyelids. Again, where you would get rosey from the sun during summer.

3. HIGHLIGHTER & LIPS

I apply a highlighter on the top of my cheekbones and sweep the brush up to the arch of my eyebrow. Stand in the window and see where the light naturally hits your skin. With a smaller brush I apply some on the tip of my nose, and sometimes across the cupid’s bow.

For an everyday lip, I love to first apply a good, moisturising, clear lip balm (whichever one you prefer – one of my favourites is a lip balm I find at the French pharmacies). On top of that I use a lip tint in a pink colour to give my lips some additional colour.

4. BROWS & EYES

I don’t always fill in my brows but when I do, I do it lightly. However, setting them is something I don’t want to leave the house without doing. A clear eyebrow gel is my favourite. I’ve tried many, but keep coming back to this one.

For lashes, I first use a primer. Once the primer has dried, I apply a light layer of mascara. I usually prefer a dark brown mascara to go with the lighter tones in my face.

On some days, I like to add a slight liner to create a soft, brown wing in the corner of my eye in order to elongate the eyes.
