Haute Couture & More

I dread and look forward to fashion week (including haute couture week of course) every single season. It's my most stressful, exhausting and draining period of the year but at the same time it's also the most exciting, eventful and fulfilling time I can possibly imagine. Why so stressful you ask? Because everyone turn their eyes (and book their flight tickets) to Paris. That means business meetings I've been trying to organise finally happens, catching up with friends who comes into town, photography jobs popping up, attending presentations and going to the shows. What makes it so intense is that you only have a couple of days to get it all done and to fit it all in.

A highlight every season, for exactly a year now, is to photograph the Dior show. This haute couture seasons it's exactly one whole year ago that I photographed my very first show for Dior. Man, time goes by so quickly! This is one of the jobs that makes me the most nervous but also one of the jobs that forces me to pinch myself (just to make sure I'm not dreaming) before picking up my camera.

Unexpectedly I also managed to start my fashion season a little bit early this year with my first ever men's fashion week (which happens the week before Haute Couture). I got the opportunity to photograph for Berluti, attend the Dior homme show as well as the menswear show by Lanvin – something I have to say that enjoyed a bit more than I thought. It's a little bit calmer, cute men all around and not as stressful as women's fashion week. Shhh! Don't tell anyone that I said that.

The day after Haute Couture week ended I found myself in bed with a sore throat and an annoying cold, but I guess that's what happens when your body finally feels as though its able to relax for the very first time after an intense period. And even though I'm writing this coughing and wiping my nose, I can't wait to do it all over again! Above you can find a few highlights and moments I managed to capture throughout the week. I tried keeping you updated as much as I possibly could through Instagram, and now I've also jumped on the bandwagon with Snapchat (you'll find me under the username "carin-olsson" in case you'd like to see more)!
